General Meeting of the Coalition (#2) EITI  (July 30, 2004)

General Meeting of the Coalition (#2) EITI  (July 30, 2004)

The second general meeting of the Coalition "For Improving Transparency in Extractive Industries" was held at Baku Business Center on July 30, 2004. The meeting participants listened to the report by the Coalition Council's coordinator, Sabit Bagirov, on the activities undertaken between May 13, 2004, the day when the Coalition was established, and July 29, 2004, and plans for the foreseeable future.

Then the meeting considered the issue of admission of new members. Those interested in joining the Coalition had addressed it either in writing or electronically. According to the Coalition Regulations, the admission of a new member to the Coalition requires at least two thirds of the votes of the Coalition members, but since two thirds of the Coalition members were not in attendance, the issue was not put to vote. The decision of the general meeting was that the list of potentially new members will be sent to Coalition members by e-mail and that those who receive two thirds of the members' votes will be admitted.

The meeting was attended by the executive director of the Open Society Institute's Azerbaijan Foundation, Mr Farda Asadov.
